Life Time Fitness is partnering with Girls Gone Strong (GGS) to enhance its coaching standards, particularly in women’s health and fitness. The collaboration focuses on providing Life Time professionals with specialized, evidence-based education to better serve their female clients. This is a significant move because roughly 500,000 women visit Life Time facilities annually, and the demand for tailored coaching is growing.
Strategic Implementation: From Pilot to Certification
The partnership began with a pilot program after Life Time staff members recommended GGS for its high-quality certifications. The rollout included several key steps:
- Certification for Select Staff: Life Time trainers were given access to GGS certifications, allowing them to experience the curriculum firsthand.
- Company-Wide Webinar: GGS co-founder Molly Galbraith led a webinar on evidence-based coaching for women, reaching Life Time’s entire training team.
- Exclusive Enrollment: Life Time professionals were granted private access to complete GGS certifications.
Initial results show high engagement, with many coaches completing training and integrating women-centered strategies into their practice.
Why This Matters: Addressing a Gap in Women’s Fitness
Historically, fitness education has often overlooked the unique physiological needs of women. This partnership addresses that gap by equipping coaches to effectively support clients through specific life stages:
- Pregnancy and Postpartum: Understanding hormonal shifts, recovery, and safe exercise protocols.
- Perimenopause and Beyond: Adapting training to manage metabolic changes and maintain fitness during this transitional period.
By investing in specialized education, Life Time aims to provide more personalized and effective support, moving the industry towards a more inclusive standard.
Future Expansion: Workshops and New Pathways
Life Time and GGS are exploring additional initiatives, including live workshops, broader access to education resources, and new certification pathways within Life Time’s internal training platforms. The goal is to make women-centered coaching a core competency across the organization.
This collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to raising the bar for how women are coached and supported in fitness. The focus on evidence-based practices ensures clients receive the best possible care, tailored to their individual needs.
